our anu masi

SHARED BY CINDY CHEN, BUSINESS SCHOOL FRIEND

In between whirlwind travels two summers ago, Anaal came back to the Bay Area to check in with old friends and some consulting work. She stayed with me and my family for a week or two and my daughter (only 7 months at the time) quickly fell in love with Auntie Anaal, who insisted that Lily needed to call her Anu Masi. (Masi meaning mother's sister, Anu a nickname for Anaal.) The week turned into trips to Verve for rose tasting, cooking elaborate meals (including a damn good steak - not something that's part of my normal repertoire), and attempting to re-create instagram worthy moments to surprise Toby the dog. Let's just say, the #whatthefluffchallenge was NOT successful but resulted in a lot of laughter and memories, all of which I feel fortunate to have on video. Anaal's big, open-hearted laughter, her knowledge on all the cool trends and happenings, her genuine love and affection, her honest candor on life's ups and downs... these are the things that I miss about her every day. I am so grateful that Lily had some time with her Anu Masi and that one day, she grows up to be as fierce, loving, and compassionate.
